Best 200 Watt Solar Panel

renogy 100 watt solar panel

Installation space is an important consideration when purchasing solar panels. If you decide to use 200-watt panels, you will take up half the space of 100-watt panels, and for those with limited space in their yard, boat, or RV, this is important.

For a long time, 100-watt panels were the most popular panels to use, but as technology advanced and costs have decreased, the use of 200-watt panels is becoming more common.

That being said, there are still more of the lower wattage panels on the market, although it is now not unusual to find the 200-watt solar panels in 12V and 24 Volt versions.

This post describes what I consider the best 200W solar panels and kits currently available.

Panel Types

If you are going to mount your panels on a boat or RV then a smaller panel like the Renogy panels might be your best bet, although they are heavier.

You might also want to consider a flexible panel if you have a curved roof or tight space.

The Renogy suitcase panels are also a good portable option if you want panels that you can transfer from RV to boat or just throw in the back of your car for a camping trip.

Reviews of the Best 200 Watt Solar Panels

Renogy 200W Solar Panels

Renogy makes one of the most well-known solar panels on the market right now. This solar panel is popular with the DIY group, whether it be off-grid cabins, boats, RVs, etc.

It was interesting to note that Renogy had the largest panel in this group in size and weight, especially since they cater to the RV and travel groups. The panels also had the highest maximum voltage, which makes sense with the larger panels.

Renogy 200 Watt 12 Volt Monocrystalline Solar Panel
$239.99
Pros:
  • Very good efficiency and performance
  • Performs well in low light conditions
  • Plenty of pre-drilled holes for installation
Cons:
  • Packaging and shipping are sometimes an issue
  • Pricing changes often so check Amazon and Renogy before purchasing
  • Price

The panels are quality-made panels and come with the components and assurances you would expect.

  • Aluminum Frame – durable and corrosion resistant
  • EVA Film – above and below the solar cell
  • Tempered Glass
  • Waterproof (IP67) Connectors
  • Weather Resistant (IP65) junction box
  • TPT Backsheet
  • Wind (2400PA) and snow (5400PA).
  • 25-Year output warranty
  • Lead wires

The Renogy panels get very good reviews across distributor sources like Amazon, Home Depot, and ShopSolarKits.com, and they also guarantee a 0-3% tolerance on the output which is not the case with most of their competitors.

Heads Up

  1. There are plenty of mounting holes around the corners of the frames but you will need to drill your own on the sides if needed.
  2. Customer Service is not their strong suit. If you need to take with someone about your system and the panels needed then consider a distributor like “ShopSolarKits.com.”
  3. Make sure you check your panels as soon as you receive them. Damage has been noted, so take advantage of their warranty and return policy.
  4. Mounting hardware does NOT come with these solar panels.

Eco-Worthy 195W Solar Panels

The 195W monocrystalline solar panel by Eco-Worthy is one of their most popular solar panels. The panel receives good feedback on performance and durability, meeting the ratings stated.

If you are looking for an economical solar panel that performs, then consider this solar panel. Eco-Worthy consistently has sales, and they are often less on their own website than they are on Amazon, so make sure you check.

ECO-WORTHY 195 Watt 12 Volt Monocrystalline Solar Panel

Pros:
  • Price
  • Good performance and efficiency
  • Well-made panel
Cons:
  • Shipping damage is sometimes a problem
  • Customer Service is hit and miss

Much like the other solar panels on this list, you get the same basic components and warranty guarantees.

  • Aluminum Frame – durable and corrosion resistant
  • EVA Film – above and below the solar cell
  • Tempered Glass
  • Waterproof (IP67) Connectors
  • Weather Resistant (IP65) junction box
  • TPT Backsheet
  • Wind (2400PA) and snow (5400PA).
  • 25-Year output warranty
  • Lead wires

Performance is a strong point for Eco-Worthy, especially at this price point. Consumers consistently report the wattage output meets it’s rating.

Heads Up

  1. Customer service and responsiveness have always been an issue for Eco-Worthy. Even I have issues when reaching out to them and not getting a response. Recently, they appear to have made changes and are more responsive.
  2. Packaging has been an issue for all solar panel vendors, but with more and more reviews and videos on line, this is improving.
  3. Mounting hardware does NOT come with this solar panel.

Newpowa 200W Solar Panels

This Newpowa 200W solar panel consistently performs, and is the most compact panel in this group. This is one of the reasons it is the panel SolarKnowHow chooses.

Newpowa 200W Monocrystalline 200 Watt 12V Solar Panel
$219.50
Pros:
  • Panel dimensions
  • Impressive efficiency and performance for this price point panel
  • Responsive customer service
Cons:
  • As with others, shipping continues to be a challenge so check panels as soon as you receive them.

Newpowa has some of the highest reviews in this group, and they receive high marks for efficiency, even in shady conditions.

This panel has many of the same assurances and guarantees that the other solar panels have.

  • Aluminum Frame – durable and corrosion resistant
  • EVA Film – above and below the solar cell
  • Tempered Glass
  • Waterproof (IP67) Connectors
  • Weather Resistant (IP65) junction box
  • TPT Backsheet
  • Wind (2400PA) and snow (5400PA).
  • 25-Year output warranty
  • Lead wires

The compact size is a selling point for me. These are the best panels if space is limited – RV roof, boat, camper roof, etc. Even with the size, the output is still impressive.

Heads Up

  • Shipping is a consistent issue across almost all of these panels, and Newpowa is no exception.
  • Customer Service is hit and miss. Some people claim it is good and others that it is no existent. Your best bet is to send an email if you need to get in touch.
  • There are no mounting holes on one end of the panel so you may have to drill your own.
  • Mounting hardware does NOT come with these panels.

HQST 200W Solar Panel

The HQST solar panel is one of the lightest weight solar panels in this group, and at the time of this review it had the best price from HQST. This panel is favored by DIY, RV, camp and boat owners.

HQST 190W 12V Monocrystalline Solar Panel
$199.99
Pros:
  • Better packaging and shipping than others
  • Durable and very weatherproof
  • Lowest price from HQST at time of this review
Cons:
  • A limited number of mounting holes
Shop Amazon Shop HQST

Often noted is that at this price point this is a well-made, durable solar panel that withstands rough weather and temperature extremes well.

Like other solar panels in this group, this panel has many of the same components and assurances.

  • Aluminum Frame – durable and corrosion resistant
  • EVA Film – above and below the solar cell
  • Tempered Glass
  • Waterproof (IP67) Connectors
  • Weather Resistant (IP65) junction box
  • TPT Backsheet
  • Wind (2400PA) and snow (5400PA).
  • 25-Year output warranty
  • Lead wires

Heads Up

  • As with the other solar panels, although improved, shipping is still an issue at times.
  • This solar panel also has a limited number of mounting holes and you may have to drill some of your own.
  • Mounting hardware does NOT come with this solar panel.

Summary – 200W Solar Panels

These 200W solar panels make sense when you have a limited amount of space, and the ones chosen here are all good DIY panels for those applications.

Renogy is a good choice, but I think Newpowa, HQST and Eco-Worthy also make good panels at a better price.
